The Russian Ball in the Supper Room

A grand ball for officers of the Russian fleet at anchor in New York held at New York City's Academy of Music on 14th Street. New York’s social elite snapped up 2000 tickets for the “Social Event” of the 1863 season. The ballroom’s interior was illuminated by 1200 gas burners.
